Chats on the farmhouse porch 72

It's Tuesday again! You know what that means!

Everyday Ruralty

Questions :
1. What's your favorite ornament on your tree? If you have no Christmas tree, please tell me about something pretty in your home that you enjoy.
2. What do you do when a telemarketer calls?
3. What was the last kind of candy you had? Admit it- you had one tiny little bite. We understand:)
4. Do you send out Christmas cards? If not applicable- do you use snail mail?
5. Please finish this. I sometimes wonder___________________________.

1. This year, my mom said she didn't want to drag out all our Christmas stuff, so if I wanted a tree we could just go buy one and buy some ornaments. We went to grocery outlet (are there grocery outlets all over the country? It's awesome!) So we bought a 3 foot fake tree, and two packages of little sparkly ornaments! We spent a whopping 10 dollars on our Christmas decorations. I will include a picture of my ornaments below.
2. I usually say 'I'm sorry were not interested bye' and hang up quickly.
3. I had a strawberry laffy taffy. The people I nanny for still have a bucket of Halloween candy sitting out in the living room...it's impossible not to grab some haha
4. I do not send out Christmas cards. My family never has, so it's kind of foreign to me. I don't use snail mail often, because I honestly don't have much need for it! But if I had someone I could write to, I would definitely use it more often!
5. Sometimes I wonder where I would be if my mother had not made the sacrifices that she did for me and my sister.

    1. I like your response about people being more honest! I'm a really honest person, and I hate it when people play games. If theres something going on, I want to just know straight up!

  2. Your decorations are really pretty. My Mom got to where she wouldn't put up a tree, either....and I'm beginning to be just like her. Just call me Scrooge!! ;-)

    1. Haha, once you get older and don't have little kids around, I can definitely see how it seems like more of a burden. I guess when I have kids someday it will be more fun!

  3. Good for you in taking the horse by the reins (that part is for Wendell) and doing a tree getting in the spirit. I wish laffy taffy didn't stick to the roof of my mouth so I really like the flavors but it isn't attractive having a grown women with her fingers in her mouth pulling it out LOL please don't picture it LOL!! Great chatting with you on the porch this week have a great week ~Janice

  5. 1.This is the first year that I have not had some sort of Christmas tree, but only because in 10 days we are leaving for AZ. But my favorite ornamant is a bucking bronc, even though his tail is now broken.
    2. It depends, I have worked as a telemarketer, so I am never rude. Usually I ask them politely to remove our number from the call list.
    3. As I type I am eating a Hershey's mini. (My job requires that I eat much candy to get through the day)
    4. I try to send out cards, and this year I got some great ones from hoofprints.com, even some that were painted by a horse. So I will send them out this year for sure!
    5. Sometimes I wonder why people can't be more compassionate of others.

    1. We're going to oklahoma for christmas next week! Christmas just seems to go by so fast, so I wanted to have some sort of decoration to be able to make the season last a little longer!

I definitely wish people were more compassionate towards others. I hate it when people are rude for no reason to people they don't even know!

This is a stupid example, but like Lindsay Lohan. She was suuuuch a beautiful girl, and she's made stupid decisions, but the poor thing needs some help. I mean, she's like 23 years old. Not many people have their shit together at 23, and her family sucks, and people love to hate on her. Leave the poor thing along!

  6. What a sweet comment about your mother. :) We don't have grocery outlets in this area. I think I heard of a bread outlet several years ago, but it was over a half an hour away.Your ornaments look pretty. I'm a sucker for sparkle!

    1. Sparkles make everything better :) Grocery outlet is basically the overstock of groceries, etc, that stores cant sell so they give it to grocery outlet. Its kinda janky, but comon, I'd rather spend money on my horses than on the same groceries I'd buy for twice as much!

  7. I've never even heard of a grocery outlet, but I'd love to visit one! I'm sure your mother's reward for her sacrifices is having a daughter who appreciates them. Love the ornaments!

  8. I've never heard of a grocery outlet but they sound quite interesting. I thought about not dragging out all our decorations too but my two daughters who live close by came over and helped so now, we're all decorated! I like you idea though!

  9. Laffy Taffy...A candy staple:O) As a mother it is sweet to hear a daughter recognize what her mother has done for her. Kuddos to you, I'm sure you're making your mama proud:O) Have a blessed week

    1. I try to! Me and my mom have never been good communicators about mushy stuff, so I probably don't tell her these things as much as i should :)
